Community schools are state schools with strong links to the local community.
|They might let other people use their sports or computer facilities, for example, or run adult learning classes.|
Don't worry - the other users won't be there at the same time as you. Your mum won't turn up in your history class and ask if you had a wee at playtime.
The admission authority for a community school is the local authority.
State funded schools are bound by the School Admissions Code.
They aren’t allowed to insist that you put the school as first choice.
They can’t interview you or your child or use selective entry tests.
|They cannot take the behaviour of any family members into account or give priority to the relatives of former pupils. |
They mustn’t request any financial contribution or ask for background information such as disabilities, interests, occupation or marital status.
